1442 A green painted and carved oak doorway from the 1st Class entrance promenade deck surmounted by a gilt pear-shaped cartouche and fruiting swags, acanthus leaf and ball moulding to the borders, 44 in. x 97 in. high, inscribed in pencil on the reverse, “1st Entrance Prom Dk, Port side Aft End and Aft end Door Port”. Price realized: £420 1443 An ornate section of green painted and gilt oak panel richly carved with swags of fruit, wheatears, vegetables, embellished with acanthus leaves and paterae, centred by a circular aperture, the panel below with “A DECK” outlined where brass letters have been 55½ in. x 88 in. high, together with two other fragments of border panelling. Price realized: £460 1444 An ornate green painted and gilt oak panel surmounted by a scallop shell motif, acanthus leaves, paterae, swags of fruit, wheat ears, and vegetables, the panel below with “PROM DECK” outlined where brass letters have been 54 in. x 97 in. high, inscribed in chalk on the reverse, “Entrance Panels, Promenade Aft, S.S. 400” and in pencil “Aft End No 16”.
